Procedure
I generally paint from life or by using
digital photographs that can be downloaded onto the computer.
I prefer to take the photographs myself, but if the client chooses
to provide them, it is essential that they be of high-quality
resolution. A portrait from life requires approximately five sittings
that average two to three hours per sitting. The portrait can
be painted in my studio or at a location of the clients
choice. If photographs are to be used, a photo session will take
one to two hours. Together the client and I will decide upon the
size, setting and mood of the painting, clothing to be worn and
accompanying pets* or objects. Before beginning the painting I
will show a sketch to the client for approval. For those clients
who live at a distance from me, I can photograph the painting
at different stages of the process and send J-Pegs to the client
for his or her approval.
